Mr. Adam Phyall is a former high school science teacher and the current Director of Technology & Media Services for Newton County Schools. Since Adam got his first laptop in college, he has been hooked on the amazing things that technology can add to instruction. Mr. Phyall began teaching as a science teacher and quickly saw the power technology had on classroom instruction. Very early on, he began having students create videos and podcasts to explain advanced science concepts. Mr. Phyall began to lead professional development sessions focusing on how teachers can keep students engaged with technology.
In time, Mr. Phyall took a position with Newton County School System as the Technical Data Facilitator. In this position, Mr. Phyall worked with Newton County’s Title I schools to improve technology integration with economically disadvantaged students. In 2013, Mr. Phyall and his family relocated from Covington, GA to Kansas City, MO to take a position as Instructional Technology Director for Hickman Mills C-1 School District. In that position as Director of Instructional Technology, Mr. Phyall worked directly with teachers showing them fun and easy methods of incorporating technology into instruction. During his time in Hickman Mills, Mr. Phyall led their 1:1 iPad Mobile Learning Initiative and the District’s Apple & ConnectED Grant.Over the years, Mr. Phyall has been a keynote speaker and featured presenter at technology conferences across the country He is known for his fun and engaging presentation style and his humor. His philosophy on teaching is “if you’re having fun teaching it, then your students will have fun learning it.”
